The purpose of this notice is to inform you about the types of data that is collected with the app, how that data is used and with whom it is shared.

This app has been developed by Sonova AG, Laubisrütistrasse 28, 8712 Stäfa, Switzerland and is intended to be used with compatible wireless hearing instruments. This app sends a signal and controls the hearing aids via selected mobile devices for which this app has been developed.

Please refer to the “Disclaimer” section of this settings menu and the user guides provided with your hearing instrument for information on intended use, cautions and warnings.

The purpose of this notice is to inform you about the types of data that is collected with the app, how that data is used and with whom it is shared.
 

What personal data is collected in the app and why?

To be able to use the app and pairing your hearing device to your smartphone, your hearing device name, as defined by your Hearing Care Professional, which may include your name, and Bluetooth address will be registered in the app on your smartphone. To provide the remote control functionality, some data,  such as current haring aid volume, current hearing aid program, program options and battery state, will be registered and visualized in the mobile app too. Furthermore, to provide you with useful usage information about the average wearing time of your hearing aid in hours per day, the time of the last adjustment of your hearing aid by your Hearig Care Professional is registered and visualized in the app too. To improve the functionalities and user experience of the app, Sonova may collect aggregated usage statistics about how users are using the app, such as the total number of app users,  the device models and the geography. Otherwise, Sonova does not have access to your personal data or any other data stored on your device. 

Who will have access to your personal data and why?

Sonova uses Google Analytics, a service offered by Google Inc. “Google” to generate statistics about the usage of the app. For this purpose, your IP address will be transmitted to Google Analytics. Google Analytics will use cookies, stored on your mobile app to analyze your usage of the app. However, before any processing or storing of your IP address, your IP address will be anonymized, respectively masked. Google Analytics uses “cookies”,  small text files deployed on your app that can contain information such as login settings, geographic, and demographic information, stored on your mobile app to help analyze how users use our mobile app. The information generated by the cookies about your use of our app, including your IP address, will be anonymized by Google by use of the appropriate settings (“anonymizelp()” function or equivalent) and transmitted to Google servers in the United States. On behalf of Sonova, Google will use the information generated by the cookies for the purpose of evaluating the use of our app and providing compiled reports about how users are using the app, such as the total number of of app users,  the device models and the geography, for analytical purposes. Only Sonova Data Analysts may have access to the data used for analytics purposes . Otherwise, Sonova may have only access to the aggregated usage statistics that contains only anonymized data. 

Google may transfer the information generated by the cookies to third parties in case of a statutory obligation or if a third party processes data on behalf of Google. Under no circumstances, Google will combine or associate your IP address with other data stored at Google.  

By using our mobile app you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data by Sonova or Google as described in this notice.

How long will your personal data be stored, by whom and where?

Google Analytics stores your anonymized IP Address and generated data through the use of cookies on servers in the US, for compiling reports on app activities for app operators and for providing other services relating to the app activity. Otherwise, all data is stored locally in your app where only you have access. You can delete such data at any time by removing the app form your device.

What rights do you have in respect to your personal data?

You have full access to all information stored on your app and the right to withdraw your consent to process your personal data and delete your personal data at any time by de-installing your app from your device.

By installing  and using the app on your device, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described in this policy. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy. A revised Privacy Policy will apply only to data collected subsequent to its effective date. Any revisions will be posted prior to its effective date.
